Taiwan offers lots of fun for all of the family, and is small enough that we can take in a fantastic variety of activities in a short space of time without ever having to travel too far. In an action packed week, highlights include a cable car ride up to the Formosan Aboriginal Cultural Village in Sun Moon Lake, a beautiful bike ride through the lush Meinong countryside, sleeping just meters from a whale shark at one of Asia's best aquariums, and of course some good old-fashioned time at the beach. In spite of its ultra-modern façade, Taiwan is an island steeped in history, and traditional values are fundamental to daily life: family is paramount, and locals are always thrilled to meet families from other parts of the world, a factor which may well end up being the ultimate highlight of your time here.

Day 1 – Taipei

Today you'll arrive in Taipei and in the evening meet up with your tour leader who'll give you an introductory briefing to the tour.

Days 2-3 – Sun Moon Lake

This morning our adventure begins with a journey on the High-Speed-Rail to Taichung from where we will take a short drive up to stunning Sun Moon Lake. In the afternoon we'll take a boat ride out onto the sparkling waters of Taiwan's largest lake, surrounded by misty mountains, temples and pagodas. The following day we'll take a beautiful cable car ride from the edge of the lake up into the surrounding mountains to the Formosan Aboriginal Cultural Village. This excellent theme park offers a gentle introduction to the island's aboriginal culture with plenty of fun activities, live performances and hands-on exhibitions all set to a lush jungly backdrop.
Approx Journey Times: Taxi 20mins / High-Speed Rail 1hr / Drive 2hr

Day 4 – Meinong

Meinong, a bucolic Hakka town in the heart of south Taiwan's banana belt is our destination for today. We arrive in time for a traditional Hakka lunch and the chance to paint traditional paper parasols. Later we'll take a short bicycle ride (or walk) through the gorgeous countryside, passing banana, betel nut and coconut palms, rice paddies, and charming old farmhouses.
Approx Journey Times: Drive 3hr

Days 5-6 – Kenting

After a morning pottery class we'll drive south to Checheng, home to Taiwan's outstanding Marine Biology Museum & Aquarium. We'll spend the night here, sleeping just yards from a gigantic whale shark, and will have the chance to tour the aquarium and look behind the scenes after all of the visitors have left in the evening. The following day it's just a short drive to Kenting, blessed with beautiful beaches, year-round warm weather, and a national park teeming with wildlife. The rest of the day is free to swim, snorkel, hike, take a bike ride, or just relax on the beach.
Approx Journey Times: Drive 2hr

Day 7 – Tour Ends

The tour ends after breakfast, with options to continue your holiday in this fabulous beach destination or transfer to Kaohsiung for domestic or international flights, or the high-speed-rail to Taipei.
